Buses

Most of Malta's towns and villages are connected to Valletta by bus. Usually they depart and return to City Gate (the main bus terminus). Buses (yellow with an orange stripe) are numbered but their destination is not shown, however, billboards showing the destination and route number can be found in the city gate bus terminus.
Buses on Gozo
On Gozo, buses (grey with a red strips) serve the main villages from Victoria but only run in the morning.  
In Gozo routes are 'circular' routes which originate at and return to Victoria. Therefore you may need to return to Victoria each time to visit other destinations. Therefore, it is advisable that when visiting Gozo, you opt for a tour/excursion or hired car.


Ferries

to Gozo

There is a regular passenger/car ferry service between Malta and Gozo operating almost 24 hours, especially during the busy summer months. The main ferry terminal in Malta is in the North of the island at Cirkewwa. The ferry port of Mgarr in Gozo is in the South, it takes approximately 25 minutes to cross.
Ferry tickets can be purchased before boarding or on your return. If you decide to visit Gozo by car/jeep it is advisable that you get to the ferry terminal early.

between Valletta and Sliema
A 10 minute crossing between the historical city of Valetta and the trendy resort town of Sliema. This ferry service is operated by the Marsemxetto Steam Ferry Company, a subsidiary of the popular Captain Morgan Cruises, the cost is minimal

to Sicily
A very popular day out and for many visitors an opportunity not to be missed. Virtu, operators of the Catamaran ferry to Pozzallo in southern Sicily can offer a ferry only crossing or a combined ferry and tour (recommended), visiting popular attractions such as Mount Etna, Taormina and more.
