Sicilian Flavours Gastronomic Tour

Tour Details

On arrival at the port you will check-in and board the catamaran. The crossing is estimated to take 90 minutes, however this can be slightly longer on occasions, depending on weather conditions. The Catamaran is equipped with restrooms, a very good cafeteria serving a variety of hot or cold snacks/beverages and a small boutique/gift shop.

On arrival in Pozzallo you will be greeted by the local guide and transport.

We start with a visit to Marzamemi where we visit the village and the Campisi establishment, famous for it's preserves. Campisi specialises in fish delicacies and other popular Italian favourites such as fish eggs, raw tuna (bottarga), red tuna, traditional Italian sauces and preserves made from the famous Pachino tomatoes cultivated only in this area of Sicily. Our next visit is to a wine cellar which produces wines from local grapes, particularly the Nero D'Avola and the famous desert wine Moscato di Noto.

Included during this gastronomic experience is a typical local lunch at an agriturismo farm in the village of La Diga di S. Rosalia.

Our next stop includes a visit to the Baroque city of Modica to enjoy some time in the city centre and the popular "Il Corso". Modica once so important as to constitute a kingdom within the kingdom, is today a prosperous town still dependent on its traditional agricultural economy. The beautiful flight of steps leading to the main entrance and the statues representing the twelve apostles are the main features of S. Pietro's church. The main street or "Corso", with it's mixture of magnificent buildings, modern shops and al fresco cafes. It is a thriving town centre. Here we will also visit the Bonaiuto Chocolate factory...you can sample the chocolate and of course you will have free time to purchase if you wish. Our final culinary experience will be to a small local establishment that produces a selection of different cheeses, including the famous Caciovallo Ragusano.

We return back to the port to board the Catamaran for our return to Malta which is scheduled at 2130hrs. Transport will be waiting for on arrival in Malta to return you back to your hotel/drop off point.
